It’s Time To Let Society Know We’re Invincible

Be fiercely proud to be a woman in midlife. Wrinkles and sags encouraged.

PICTURE THIS…

You stand in front of a mirror and instead of criticisms that used to swarm in, now there’s only love, appreciation, and a feeling of being at home in your body.

You’ve been thinking about kicking the dye to the curb and letting your grey come through–and when you sit in the chair, the hairdresser says, “I have something that’ll make the silver strands really pop.”

You sit in the doctor’s office and for once he’s listening, engaged and not sending you out the door with a, “Here’s a pill and good luck.”

You’re in a café sitting next to a group of women in their 30’s who are speaking fondly of moving into their 40’s and 50’s–and you can’t help but smile ear to ear.

You confidently step into a room, reveling in how liberating it feels to realize YOU get to decide if you’re beautiful or sexy.

You walk down the street with a big smile on your face: You haven’t been tamed or silenced; you’ve set yourself free.

And above all, you’re fiercely proud to call yourself a woman in midlife.

Aging isn’t taboo. Talking about it, celebrating it, and lifting each other up is key to shifting away from our anti-aging culture and helping younger women know all they have to look forward to.

HI I’M DARA

And I’m on a mission to make sure the world sees you.

There was a time when I found myself looking at the life I loved–the life I had built–and didn’t feel fulfilled by it anymore. I was sure I was going crazy, sure I was experiencing what Society told me would happen:

A midlife crisis.

I knew that if I wanted to get past these uncomfortable feelings, I would have to go through them, not around them. So with some professional help and a ton of self-exploration I came to realize something that would change my life forever:

  • Society has taught us to dread aging, but that doesn’t mean we should.
  • Suffering alone does more harm than good.
  • We can (and should) refuse to let society make us invisible…because we’re actually invincible.

I believe there’s nothing more powerful than a woman in midlife who is proud to be where she is. The kind of woman who giggles when her memory slips. The kind of woman who takes pride in her age spots. The kind of woman who reaches out to another and says, “Let me help you up.”

My goal is for ALL of us women in midlife to be able to say and truly feel, “This is a great place to be.” And for us to band together and get Society to listen to us. To believe us. To revere us.

Here at Lovin’ Midlife, we have the conversations, share the tools and opportunities, and become evangelists for all women in midlife who strive to be seen, heard, and understood.
